Definition: What Is Uptime?

Uptime refers to the duration during which a system, service, or device remains operational and available for use. It measures the period of time when the system is functioning without any significant interruptions or downtime. Uptime is often expressed as a percentage and is used to assess the reliability and performance of a system. Higher uptime indicates a more reliable and available system, while lower uptime suggests a higher likelihood of service disruptions. Uptime is a critical metric in evaluating service level agreements (SLAs) and maintaining satisfactory user experience.
