Run Synthetics Browser Monitors in Headed Mode

December 3, 2025

You can now run Browser Monitors in headed mode. In this mode, the browser runs like a normal browser you would see on your computer, not only in headless mode. Some websites can detect headless browsers and show different pages or block access, so headed mode helps monitors work on these sites.

Why headed mode is becoming more important:

Websites are increasingly detecting and restricting headless browsers. Some sites show alternative content, require human-like interactions, or block access entirely when they detect automated scripts. Running monitors in headed mode helps your checks behave like a real user and access pages reliably.

When to use headed mode:

  • Monitoring websites that block headless browsers
  • Accessing pages that require a full browser to load correctly
  • Testing user interactions on sites that show different content for headless scripts

Important notes:

Headed mode uses more CPU and memory, so monitor runs may take longer and be slightly slower.
