When you create a Monitoring and Logs App in Sematext you get out of the box reports. From time to time we update and improve those reports. For example, as monitored metrics and logs change we improve the metrics charts, we update log parsing and charting, etc. With the introduction of Report Updates you will now be able to easily update your reports and benefit from our changes, while at the same time having the option to keep any customizations you’ve made to the reports.

How it Works

When updates become available for any report in your Logs or Monitoring Apps, you’ll see an info box notification. If you have previously customized the out of the box reports, this info box provides three options:

• Continue using your current customized version
• Replace your existing reports with the latest version
• Keep your customized version and create a new copy of the updated report

• Stay Current: Easily access the latest reporting features and improvements while maintaining your customizations
• Flexible Management: Choose whether to update reports immediately or postpone updates for a more convenient time
• Clear Organization: Updated reports are saved with clear date-stamped names (e.g., “Overview 19-12-2024”) for easy identification
• Automatic Updates: If you haven’t customized your reports, they’ll update automatically to ensure you always have the latest features

Managing Updates

• If you haven’t customized your reports, updates apply automatically
• The info box appears whenever updates are available for any report in your Apps that you have previously customized
• You can manage updates through the three-dot settings menu on each report
• The info box reappears after 30 days if updates haven’t been applied
