At the end of November, we’ll be migrating the Sematext Logs backend from Elasticsearch to OpenSearch

Monitoring of Windows Services

December 18, 2024

The latest update to Sematext Infrastructure Monitoring gives you the ability to monitor and alert on the status and performance of Windows Services across your infrastructure. This will help you proactively identify and resolve issues with essential Windows components.

Starting with Sematext Agent version 3.5.0, you can now track critical Windows Services on your servers and get insights into their operational status and resource utilization.

Windows Services

Some key capabilities of the new Windows Services support include:

  • Monitoring the status of any Windows Service, with detailed metrics that capture whether the service is running, stopped, or in a transitional state.
  • Tracking the total number of Windows Services, as well as the number currently running and not running.
  • Identifying the top Windows Services by CPU and memory usage, helping you spot resource-intensive processes.
  • Visualizing service status and resource usage in new dedicated Windows Services reports.
  • Out-of-the-box alerts for common critical services like the Event Log, Print Spooler, and DHCP. These alerts will notify you when the status of any monitored service switches from running to any other status.

Additionally, the latest agent release also brings the ability to collect Windows Event Logs, providing deeper visibility into system, security, and application events.

These new Windows monitoring capabilities will help you ensure the health and stability of your Windows infrastructure and resolve issues faster.
