Do You Need It?

How do you determine if Sematext's Recommendation Engine is for you?
  • You are an ecommerce web site and would like to have Amazon.com-like recommendations either solely based on user's own past consumption of content (or products), or based on behavior of other users, or the combination of the two

Integration

Integration with any web application is seamless and consists of two pieces:
  1. User Beacon
  2. Recommendation Service
The User Beacon is a simple servlet that collects information about users' content consumption (e.g. web pages looked at, products placed in the shopping cart, products purchased, etc.). It is integrated into pages as a pixel-sized image completely invisible to users.

The Recommendation Service is a simple servlet with a REST API. Given a user ID, the service returns a list of recommendations, ordered by the strength of recommendation specific to the given user. To display recommendations, a web appplication typically communicates with this service, gets recommendations for the given user, and passes them to the user interface layer for display.
